Forest School

We are pleased to be a part of the Oxfordshire Forest Schools Project!

Forest school is based on a Scandinavian idea as a way of children getting a regular outdoor learning experience as part of their school life. Put simply, our children get the opportunity to spend a whole session every week throughout the year in local, private woodlands, covering the whole curriculum in an outdoor context. Forest school is a wonderful extension on the year round outdoor play that we offer.

Forest School has been running in Oxfordshire for a number of years with more and more settings seeing the benefits and joining up. Studies have shown improved self esteem and confidence for the children involved, not to mention the health and physical benefits of being outside! It also has a huge impact on their understanding of the local area and environmental issues.

Claire Murray, who leads the sessions, is a fully qualified Forest School Practitioner and has the support of the Oxfordshire Forest School team. Our Forest day is currently Thursday afternoon. We take a maximum of 14 children for each session and love to have parent helpers come and play too!
